OUR WORKSHOPS

Our workshops are run by professional filmmakers who are all DBS certified. Students will work closely with our team to plan, shoot and edit during the various workshops.

The workshops are suitable for a variety of ages from 7 years plus, depending on the workshops, and can be run in schools, at youth groups, with young people with SEN or disabilities and community groups.

We provide all equipment: cameras, lights, tripods, sound, Apple Macs, editing software, etc.

The workshops develop teamwork, communication skills, confidence and leadership skills.

All films produced will be available online for students to download once completed.

Accommodation of the workshops can be provided, or we can use your premises, whatever works best for you and your young people.

Due to the nature of film our workshops can always be flexible to your students’ needs, abilities and timeframes. If you have an idea or a specific brief, please talk to us.

SCHOOL WORKSHOPS

Our workshops within schools, provide an opportunity for students to develop their creativity through filmmaking. We can work with teachers and school leadership teams to use creative to help young people gain self-confidence, increase social competence and improve resilience so they are able to re-engage positively with learning and have skills needed for the workplace.

Our bespoke workshops are developed around each school’s requirements; they can take the form of a 1-hour introduction, focusing on various roles in the industry in detail, or topic specific, e.g., how to record voiceovers, editing or directing skills. Alternatively, we can work with students over a longer period on projects, perhaps during enrichment week, or a term long project with hard-to-reach students. The Offshoot Foundation provides all equipment to film and edit, so all we need is a space within school for us to set up and use as a base for our time with you.

We appreciate school budgets are small and not all schools can afford these types of activities, if funding is difficult, we can try to find suitable funding to work with you. The focus is on student participation in making their own films, learning easy technical skills, as well as many soft skills such as leadership, communication, etc.

All of our workshops are project-based learning. Students learn through working on practical projects where they take on ownership and responsibility, rebuilding their confidence and skills after the pandemic. Testimonials are available.

ENRICHMENT WORKSHOPS

We realise students of all ages have faced massive difficulties over the last year; the disruption to structured learning and the Covid pandemic has had a big impact on the mental health and wellbeing of many. We can help with the transition back to school and ‘normal’ learning with our stimulating and inspiring creative media workshops, which have been very successful at engaging with the more hard-to-reach young people in the past.

We are offering the opportunity for us to run workshops within schools, providing an opportunity for students to develop their creativity after the current lockdown ends, helping them to readjust back into full-time education and ensuring that creativity is kept at the forefront of their learning. We will work with teachers and school leadership teams to use creative opportunities to support school priorities across the curriculum. We will liaise with you to provide an agile model that is responsive to the evolving needs and challenges that Covid-19 has brought to your school and community.
